Master Production Scheduler (MPS) is a level loading tool for the plants. The system
schedules the end-item parts for manufacture by quantity and time periods in a way where the
assignments yield an aggregate load (over all parts) that is compatible with the desired loads
(called target load) for the future time periods. The results yield the master production
schedules for all parts processed. MPS takes on these more difficult tasks and leads the way
on production scheduling in a cost efficient manner.
MPS has two routines: MPS-Raw Load and MPS-Level Load. MPS-Raw Load
summarizes the forecasts and releases from the Forecast-Replenish (FR) routine. MPS-
Level Load recalculates the releases such that the total load by time-period is consistent with
the associated time-period target load.
